Nests and Territories
Apart from our local Herons....anybody seen any other nest-building or territorial activity?
Robin carrying nest material in my garden last week and two Long Tailed Tits taking turns at pulling a piece of string which was tangled with a twig. They gave up.
Four dunnocks chasing each other round and a greenfinch in display flight today.
Frogs were congregating at Cold Edge yesterday in a footpath pond just below the Black Redstart spot below Moorlands Farm - down the track from the Withens - but we didn't find any at Cold Edge dams - yet!
Rooks busy at the usual site on Stoney Royd Lane, (off Burnley Road in Todmorden) a couple of weeks ago - I think about 15 nests visible from memory. Jackdaws had been investigating our chimney as early as the New Year, but we managed to get the new cowl fitted before they filled it with twigs again.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,
