Ogden Walk
Yesterdays walk around Ogden produced, Swift, Swallows,
Kestrel with prey, Stonechats, Meadow Pipits, LBB Gulls,
Dipper, Wrens and Robins down by the stream and a Southern
Migrant Hawker Dragonfly. Saturday afternoon a Red Kite could
be heard from my garden but not seen.
Hi Guys. Nice shots but the dragonfly is a Southern Hawker, the large yellow spots on the Thorax behind the eyes are diagnostic of this species. Southern Migrant Hawker is an extremely rare migrant and Migrant Hawker, whilst can be abundant, is normally on the wing during August and September.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

I've been puzzling over the dragonfly Dave. From the thickness of the black lines on the side of the thorax, could it be a Migrant Hawker?
It is Peter a Southern Migrant Hawker
