Roding woodcock

The woodcock have started roding already at Jumble Hole. 1st appeared on 12 April last year, so much earlier than in 2010

Where abouts up Jumblehole and what time approx? I'd dearly love to see that.

I also reckon that woodcock are one of our most common winter visitors/breeding waders ,I have seen them displaying at Withens Clough,Hinchcliffe arms,Knott wood,castle Carr,hardcatle craggs in the last couple of years ,and wintering at Northowram , EGP and Shibden.There all over the place if you look at the right time of day....

They fly more or less up and down the pennine way, between the ruined chapel at the crest of Jumble Hole Road (rather than Jumble Hole Clough itself, though I'm sure they are there too) and Winters. Last night they started at 7:45. Just got in tonight, so missed them. Get in touch if you need further details
