Hi all
Sue and I had our first wild Little Egret today on a cycle ride. Spotted fishing in a small stream along side a Heron. Do we need to report this to anyone here in North Wales or are they common enough not to bother ?
Crappy shot but best we could get with the phone camera.

Not sure how common (or not) Egrets have become in North Wales, suggest you e mail the contact for the Welsh ornithological Society who will be able to help you. According to the Fatbirder website the e mail address is pkenyon196@aol.com
All that time at Elland and you have to wait until you go to Wales to find us one!
Hi Nick
Thanks for the info. Had it been a moth or insect I would have had some idea of its notabilty or not but I was not sure if it would be of interest to birders locally.
We just happened to cycle down a road on one of our regular rides and I spotted a brilliant white bird wading up a stream. I at once thought it must be an Egret even though I have never seen one in the wild before. We managed to get some bins on it and it was obvious I was correct. I have GR for the bird so will try and pass on details. Thanks once again for your help.
At our picnic spot on Rhiw today we had at one time 9 Buzzards circling on the thermals below us
