Got up to another freezing but gloriously clear sunny day here in North Wales this morning and discovered a Cock Pheasant who obviously over indulged on New Years Eve and ended up in my washing line. The lesson is obvious do not drink and fly :-)
Sue and I wish you continued health, happiness and plenty of new birds in 2009.

The bird was actually left by a local last night as a gift for Sue and I. Its now cleaned and ready for tonights tea after we get back from cycling. The remains have been left out at the Buzzard feeding station, recycling at its best !
Paul, your buzzard feeding station is it just a clear area on the ground or is it raised off the ground at all. Also what do you put out for them, we have buzzards locally which given the local might benefit from a feeding station rather than risking the moors quite so often, if you know what I mean.
Hi Andrew
Its simply the small field behind the caravan. I just chuck the carcase as far out into the field as I can when no one is looking. So far they have dined on
Mallard
Grey Squirrel
Magpie
Wood Pigeon
Chicken
Carrion Crow
Pheasant
Mackeral.....I forget to clean these and they went off !
The two regulars tend to arrive in the early morning to see if anything is laying around and if not they go. If there is something they hang around for ages sussing the area before flying down to feed. They don't seem to mind if its au naturel or cooked leftovers. You guys with decent cameras could get some cracking shots of them feeding. We have just eaten the Pheasant in the photos and truly scruptious it was too with chips and a side salad. Just been given another Mallard for tomorrows tea.
Happy new year to you guys too!
