Countryfile Knocks Raptors

For those that missed this, here is a somewhat negative report on buzzards and peregrines with some emotive arguments from the pheasant and pigeon brigade, some regurgitated propaganda from SOS and a lame defence from the conservationists. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01kmbf6/Countryfile_01_07_2012/

Its very sad that Countryfile has gone so low...no doubt they were told to put that on by our Fisheries minister.....And only a small comment about the Hen Harrier..Truly appaling how low it has suunk...

Tom Heap is usually okay, so I was a bit surprised at the negative slant. I don't think it was down to orders that far up the food-chain Andy, but CF is a magazine programme primarily aimed at the farming community and towards folk who earn a living in rural areas. I guess this was a short-sited editorial decision from the producers but it could just be because the guy speaking for raptor conservation just didn't put his point across particularly well. If they haven't got the material in the first place, then they can't use it. Pretty poor show whatever the reason.
