Mount Tabor
Posting for Nick Dawtrey. 2 unidentified swans near Mount Tabor this afternoon at 3.45 pm in poor light heading west. Any pointers to help identification anyone as the bill colour is difficult!
B.O.G. thought the two-barred crosssbill a first, but several old and two relatively recent. See John Mather "Birds of Yorkshire". A brilliant find, though.
Difficult to judge but I think the shortness of the neck and what I think I can see of the bill pattern might also indicate Bewick - they can be tricky.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

I reckon the low belly and kink in the neck indicates Bewick's Swan

Hi Andy
Excuse my ignorance but what is the BOG website?
BOG is the Bradford Ornithological Group, their website can be accessed from the link on our blog
