Luddenden Dean

During a walk along Castle Carr Road battling gale force winds we disturbed a grumpy looking grey heron and saw a pair of stonechats sitting it out on a fence! I spotted and David identified a meadow pipit as we descended into the calm of the Dean.
c 30 redwings
20+ fieldfares
8 mistle thrushes
1 male kestrel
1 sparrow hawk and various woodland birds
Following the message on grapevine we headed off to the bottom of Warley Rd where we saw the 36 waxwings reported by Mick.
