Another Calderdale First ??????????
Last Friday whilst on my way to a concert I received a call of a possible White-tailed Eagle seen flying out of Calderdale over Buckstones and in to the Huddersfield area. Nothing then came of it until I received 3 photos of the bird today. All 3 are very much the same not giving much away but the bird certainly appears very bulky and consulting Dick Forsman looks spot on in flight profile. I suppose people might think possible escaped Bald Eagle as one locally as done so twice. Anyway if it turns out to be correct then Matt Bell will have won his own competition. Any comments on the photo welcome.

Any other sightings in the North this week, there was an escape doing the rounds earlier in November...?? No sign of captivity on this bird.???
Several reports last month of White Tailed sea eagle from Barden and Skipton area which started a twitch but found to be an escapee
I thought the escapee was an adult this bird appears to be a juvenile, no white tail.
Having holidayed in Mull a lot they always fly flatter winged than the Goldie's and it looks spit on for that. I assume it is a juvenile so wouldn't show the white tail. In flapping flight they are very much like a grey heron do I don't know if they reported that and the wing thickness (front to back) is always unmistakable.
Dont know about that Nick. Theres a cutting on my blog from Richmond press and if you type in search- Escapee White Tailed Sea eagle 2018 theres a photo of it eating a goose.
Thanks Brian had a look at the Richmond bird and it looks like a sub adult in its forth plumage, yellow bill like adult but with brown head and neck not pale as in full adult. From what little I can see of the tail it looks white, so that should rule out it being our bird??
Good do Nick, well followed up. Fingers crossed.
Good work Nick.
