First that I have seen on the mill pond behind my house, although I was talking to somebody walking their dog and they said it had been here for a few days

I've been searching the canal and river around Elland for this little fella for about a week now. Whereabouts did you find him?
i live at rishworth its the old mill pond that served rishworth mill, i will show you if you like
We have seen or had reports of up to two males and a female in the area, including on the Ryburn at Ripponden.
Have you any secluded walls or trees where you could put up a nest box, Nick? It doesn't have to be right over the water, the female leads the ducklings there after they have jumped down.
I could get the details re: dimensions, size of hole, etc.
Im sure i could find a place to put one let me know what i need to do it
I suspect these are already breeding in the area Steve. I think as many as 9 have been seen in the past around Ryburn. The male at Rishworth Mill managed to do a nice disappearing act under our noses and there are several holes here that could be hiding a female. Judging by the increased number of Goosanders, I don't think that there is a shortage of sites for hole nesting ducks. I would not be surprised if we have breeding Goldeneyes tucked away somewhere.
It is a very informative and useful post thanks it is good material to read this post increases my knowledge. Mold Remediation Aldan
