Spring is here!
Not birds but up to a hundred frogs in my pond yesterday & lots of spawn today.
Hi Mick If you can get a count of the numbers of clumps of spawn, these records, along with dates, are continually monitored by the Hx Scientific Society. I can get our Amphibian Recorder's email to you (Colin Duke), or if you put it in another comment, I can pass the data on.
With toads monitoring is by head counts, as they twine their strings of spawn together (a bit later in the year.)
A friend of mine in Brighouse said he also has frog spawn in his pond. Here in Todmorden there is no sign yet of frog spawn in my pond, nor in the ditches at the edge of the moors.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,
