Fly Flats this afternoon - cold and sunny and good views over the moor. No Twite at the feeding area but I put some niger seed down just in case. Are you still putting some down Brian?

1 Peregrine, 1 Raven and 2 Carrion Crows over the moor along with lots of Red Grouse being very vocal.

Res'r - 1 f Goldeneye, 1 sickly looking Lapwing!, 1 Fieldfare feeding at the top of the overflow channel, 2 Kestrels and 18 B H Gulls.

Thanks to (Yorkshire Water, I presume) for fixing three new bridge walk-ways over the bog at the far end of the res'r on the path that leads up to the road. The old railway sleepers were getting very fragile and crossing them was getting a bit iffy! Many thanks.

Thanks for the help with the Nyger Dave. I put a bag full down every Sunday morning without fail but have,nt seen any results the last few weeks. The seed has always gone but Twite have been very poor, the worst records Ive had for a long time. Good photos of the Snow Bunt, this has been the best year for passage birds for a long time.
Wonder if Andy C has managed one yet.

The one Snow Bunt yesterday was really hiding away and stayed in the same spot feeding below a heap of rubble (on what looked next to nothing!) for over an hour.

No Twite again today - for some strange reason 8 sheep were in the area where the seed is - they cant be eating it can they????!

I get sheep regular way on the spot where the seed is, Ive even tried spreading it out more over a wider area as I thought Canadas were taking it all but the Canadas have gone for now and it still goes. 1 m pheasant is usually around but as you say the sheep could be taking it, we,ll have to wait and see if they start chirping in the spring !
