Black Redstart
Black Redstart site looking towards Queensbury 1700hrs 1/9/07 A result at last but only distant quick sightings as the bird flittered from the wall into the field constantly well below the pylon. Also present 11 Mistle Thrush 5 Blackbirds 2 Mipits 1 Little Owl Several Starlings BS
I called up this evening on a tip from Nick D but dipped out myself. If you were watching it from the top of the double bend then I drove past you and it!
Glad you put this photo up Brian, it shows the area where I had my previous Black Redstarts in Halifax. 2 there on 18th and 19th August 1978 - they were in the area bottom right of the photo near the lower pylon! Nearly 30 years ago!!!! well done Nigel for finding this bird.
From the bus stop at the top end of the village in Bradshaw take a farm track down to a small stream then up the hillside where it was very stony and field walls. Not sure but think the area might be covered in gorse now - not sure as not been for a long time!! some good habitat down there though might be worth a look?
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,
