High Royd
After a record levels of rainfall, pool 'number one' at High Royd remains powder dry. Vegetation (nearly all balsam) is taking over, even right out in the middle.
When I glanced down from Sowerby before I went to Florida a couple of weeks ago, I thought they'd all filled up? Disappointing. Interestingly the historical ringing records for High Royd highlight the importance of Balsam (attracts insects) to some of the passerines ringed.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

This is very bad news, whar are the rest of the pools like? I'll E mail Geoff L to try and find out what's going on.

The second one along (along the canal away from the bridge) was slimy and muddy, but no water. Didn't see the others.
E mail has gone to GL, have copied you in
