And how about this photo of a summer plumaged male Snow Bunting. No - this was not seen in Calderdale.! It's a photo from David Crawshaw and was taken off the coast of Alaska in the Pribilofs close to the Russian border in 2015. It does demonstrate how much different birds can look in male/female plumages at different times of the year. Many thanks David.

Nice shots Andy. You managed a rump shot - interesting. Don't think anyone has got a flight shot yet - it just doesn't want to fly !!! Well it would of course but who wants it to go.
Interested also in how/what it's finding to eat up there - I couldn't find any obvious seed heads? I wonder if the grass (whatever sort it is ?) seeds are in a stem rather than a flower head or are there minute insects in the stem ???? as it seems to find something in stems.
