The River Calder was almost completely frozen over this morning around Elland Gravel Pits and the Bradley Hall Farm area.
There were just a few areas of ice-free water, mainly around the weirs where a few waterbirds were congregated. A pair of Mandarin Duck were near The Old Cornmill near Brighouse, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 female Goosander, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant and a female Sparrowhawk were the only birds of note about, beautiful scenery but desperate times for any birds around here at the moment.
