No sign of Waxwings
Walked around all the Waxwings favorite haunts, Pellon Lane, Raglan Street, Crossley Gardens, Gibbet Street, Tescos, the Fire Station and King Cross this PM with no luck. A quick walk over Roils Head produced 1 Redpoll, 2 Bullfinch and a couple of Redwings.
They were seen by Sue, one of the twite watchers, she had them at the top of the lane that goes up by the chapel off Towngate near the top of Midgley road. They were on wires and may have moved off, I have alerted other residents and will let you know if they are seen again.
I was looking at the spot that they used last time Dave.....on Winding Road (Rowans) and by Wickes (Cotoneasters). I did a quick drive by as it was getting dark, so didn't check all the trees in the car park area. From what I remember last time they were here, the low hedge around Wickes was full of berries, as were the trees on Winding Rd, but these looked relatively berry-less when I passed..... as if they may had already been stripped by thrushes.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

12 in Midgley this morning
Non around Sainsbury's area late afternoon.....no berry-laden Rowans either.....find the berries...maybe find the birds.
Where in Midgley Nick?....and feeding on anything in particular? Any good crop of Rose Hips nearby?

5 in Hanson Lane this morning but high up in trees with no berries. They still seem to be fly-catching.
Now then Steve - where were you looking - loads of berry laden rowans right in the middle of Sainsbury's car park!
The rowans at the top of Wickes car park have been cut down but there are some by the lower car park.
Will let you know if we find any Brambling spots.
like dave says 'loads of berries' in the sainsburys car park, other good looking areas i noticed over the last few days are
dean clough car parks
the police station
the minster/blockbusters area

The Starlings have already eaten all our Rowan berries - the thrushes got a few.
