Amazing sighting flying SW at Lockwood in Huddersfield raises the thought thought it could have been in calderdale airspace.
Changing jobs in January and back to Calderdale so hopefully I will be able to post more reports next year.

I checked Birdguides in response to this post and came up with the following under an entry for a Frigate bird sp on there at 1835 (but I think referring to a sighting from this morning)
"a juvenile flew southwest over Lockwood at chimney height; seen clearly by an experienced observer SE142159"
It was Steve Pogson who reported yesterday's bird. I think it was around late am/midday.
Sorry, I'm now hearing it was seen earlier - around 0845.
I was wondering wether we would get any exotic seabirds locally. A few nights ago I heard the strains of "Sailing By" from the radio and took notice of the shipping forecast. A couple of sea areas had "violent storm force 11". Never heard that warning before. Horrible for sailors but likely to send unusual birds inland and on to our reservoirs.
Great Northern Divers at Hollingworth and Blackmoorfoot. Dark nights though so who knows what is on the other reservoirs?
