I had a look at the river between Todmorden and Eastwood on Saturday morning and couldn't see anything untoward. There was no obvious smell of oil and no sign of any dead fish or birds. Hopefully the speedy containment action worked well.
I had a look at the river at Callis Bridge, Nr. Charlestown, Hebden bridge on Thursday afternoon, and the whole river was rainbow coloured. The stench of diesel, 5-6 miles from the spillage, was almost unbearable.
No obvious sign of oil downriver at Brighouse yesterday -tuesday-but the current has been very strong for a few days now: perhaps more to come ?
