Wagtails at Callis Bridge - Part II

Some more photos, this time taken on Tuesday, though still a little poor (again, click the photo for a larger image). This bird is thought to be a female / 1st summer male white wagtail. The key reasons are a good contrast between the black of the head and the mantle and the very clean looking flanks (some faint smudging of the flanks can still be visible, particularly on photos, even on white wagtails).

But any debate or other opinions are always welcome.....

This is proving to be a really intersting thread, I have received some informative comments from Martyn Hayes which have been posted under the previous post on this subject, further discussion would be welcome, I think we can all learn something here.

One thing I would say is that the rump of this bird seems to look different in different photos, dark in some and paler in others,is this a trick of the light or are they photos of different birds?

These three were all definately of the same bird from Tuesday. The previous photos could easily have been different birds, as they were disturbed, flew up and re-settled.
