scaupe???

ok this sounds daft but i think there is a ist winter male scaupe up at cold edge dams. i cant decide wheather it is scaupe or tufted duck sorry i dont have any pics. it has grey sides instead of white but has a gold eye and a purple tinged head. i cant see a crest, please help me

also a quick visit to ringstone and guess what i dont have a hide key. still got veiws of 2 shelducks, a female tufted duck and 1 great creasted greabe

Dave Sutcliffe has checked it out and tells me its a Tufted Duck, no worries though, well done on contacting us, we'd rather have a "false alarm" like this than miss a good bird locally.
