Hardcastle Crags and Shackleton Knoll

A great day to be out for a good walk after such poor weather recently.
I tried to post a video (unsuccessfully so far) of a Red Grouse male on Shackleton Knoll from early this afternoon. By the footpath strutting and shouting it's stuff right at our feet. All as if we were threatening it's territory, weird and wonderful. Roamed around us within touching distance until some other walkers came by and we moved on.

Red Grouse

Not a lot else - though plenty of small birds (mainly tits, Treecreepers and Goldcrests) in patches in the crags with 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers drumming and Green Woodpecker heard 'yaffling'.
Dipper fly-by at Gibson Mill.

The grouse had probably heard about Jens famous Bilberry pie.
