Just back from Scotland.interesting item on Scottish T.V.footage from a c.c.t.v.camera at an OSPREY view point in Aberdeenshire of a BUZZARD snatching an OSPREY chick from the nest. The chick was found later dead but not ripped open. now some people are calling for a cull of BUZZARDS.

The buzzard was obviously watching. Incredible how soon it pounced after the female osprey left

A cull? How silly. That's nature.

Who's asking for a cull? Members of the shooting fraternity or mis-informed journalists? Birders and conservationists would recognise this as a freak incident and even if it was a regular occurrence, that's no reason for such an ill-considered knee-jerk reaction. Ospreys and Buzzards have evolved together as natural co-habitants of their environment. Leave them to it.
