Goldfinch

For the second year running a pair of goldfinch have nested in the creeper just under my bathroom window. I have been a bit concerned with the weather this past week as the parents don't seem to bother brooding the chicks and just leave them in the rain. This morning though I was treated to the sight of one of the chicks standing on the edge of the nest wing flapping. I think maybe 3 more days and they should be ready to leave. One thing I have noticed is that the adult birds only seem to feed every hour or so and appear to regurgitate seeds rather than bring in insects. They tend to stand on the window cill and have a good look around to make sure the neighbourhood jackdaws aren't watching before heading in to the creeper.
