GRAPEVINE

Fivers are now due please to Nick Carter or me (or via Nick Dawtrey) - that is everyone except AC GD SG and SJ who are all in front!

PLEASE let us know sooner rather than later if you do not wish to continue.
Many thanks - Dave

Hello Dave. What is 'Grapevine'? I'm guessing it is a way of notifying special sightings by text. How does one join?

Bill - good to hear from you. The Grapevine is a text service we operate ourselves via mobile phones. Any rare/unusual sightings in Calderdale are sent from local birders to Nick Carter (am) and to me (pm). We then text out to all the grapevine members (about 22 at present)so everyone is aware what's about. It's a fiver for 50 texts which usually runs out at about £20 to £25 a year - depending on what turns up! We also of course post most, but not everything, on the blog as we may not post rare breeding birds or anything sensitive. You are welcome to join, just let me know.
All the best for now.
Dave

Another advantage of the grapevine is that the message is spread as soon as it is received, Dave or I might be out in the field and it could be the end of the day before we get to a computer so the grapevine gets the info out quicker!
