This is the blog for bird sightings and related news in the Calderdale area. It is generally updated daily. Any non-member wishing to report and post sightings should send them to info(at)calderdalebirds(dot)co(dot)uk
Nice obvious ring Dave, well spotted but a shame we cant get any numbers of it. Tricky unless they are in the hand. Cant see any signs of any colour rings. Keep trying.
Sorry Dave - the Silver ring is the standard BTO ring with numbers for identification of a specific bird. All the colour ringed birds will also have one of these silver rings on. The colour combinations will be specific to a ringing group so they know by the colours which group/location the bird is from.
There was one, maybe this one, with a BTO ring in the first 22 Waxwings that were in Hanson Lane on 22nd Nov (Coincidence of numbers.) No chance of reading the number though. Maybe it's worth informing a ringer? I'll email Steve Downing in case he's not watching the blog. It's probably not a good idea to try to mist-net birds in town.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,
