This afternoon the wind was quite strong >SW with light rain threatening so I ended up scoping the res'r and the moor from the shelter of the car - which was quite productive !
168 Swifts >SW between 2 and 3 pm over Nab Hill towards Midgley Moor/Luddenden Dean. Some of the birds were very high and others skirting the moor but all travelling at speed - amazing birds to watch.
40+ Lapwings on the res'r banking
1 Common Sandpiper
1 Curlew
3 B H Gulls >SW
1 L B B Gull >W
c100 Canada Geese (I wonder where the other 200 went from last week!!?) though some were flying about so maybe they have moved on - lets see what the next few days brings
1 Barnacle Goose still there
2 Kestrels
1 male Stonechat
