Whooper swans
At cattery this morning 10.20 off Lumbutts Road, Tod. group of c12 whooper swans flew from right to left i.e. from Stoodley Pike area towards Burnley valley. Turned as they were approx. over town centre and flew back and out of sight - over moor to left of Stoodley.
I saw them as well, 13 over lumbutts from my kitchen window. Brilliantly white and heading ever so slowly north, great sight!, never seen them in flight before, couldn't get over how big they were!
Always good to get Whoopers going over - they look fantastic on the move. Andy C also had 2 over Northowram this morning and Steve B had c50 Pink-feet over Sowerby Bridge area heading up the Calder Valley around 10.30 am
Looks like the Whoopers then headed off east down the Calder Valley as 13 were seen heading east over Brighouse on Sunday morning at 10.55 from Mike Henshaw, thanks Mike.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

There is a report of 13 Whoopers about the same time over Lumbutts area reported on Brian Sumners Blog so guess this was the same group.
