Having lunch with friends today in the Luddenden valley we were surprised to see 3 Northern long-tailed tits amongst a small flock of the usual Central variety. Photo attached.

Fantastic. I always scan flocks of LTT hoping to see one but no luck yet. I'll double check for the next few days.
That's a fantastic find and great photo's too. Never seen one so especilly well done to find them locally.
Fantastic record and I reckon if they stay around will be very popular with birders, do you know if the house owner is amenable to visiting birders?
Very rare visitor to the Uk, the last time I'm aware of this sub species turning up was a good few years ago at Easington near Spurn, on that occassion 2 stayed around for a few months. These birds could cause quite a stir and are likely to be well twitched by birders from all areas of the country. Has it been put on Birdguides and if not is there any objection to the word going out?
Should have checked birdguides first, seemingly not as uncommon as I thought, still a cracking bird to have locally. Well done for noticing them. I'm sure there will still be a lot of interest from birders both local and surrounding areas.
There was one reported at Oakwell Hall Birstall a couple of years back. Half a mile from home but I never saw it, hope to catch up with this one, long time on the wish list.
It appears to be the first sighting in the UK this winter period. And three is pretty unusual too. Great find.
Is it possible to disclose the general area they were seen? The local birders would certainly not want to intrude on anyones privacy.
