Fly Flatts

Wheatear opposite the wind farm car park this afternoon

A strong N/W wind, 7c, but some welcome sunshine and fantastic clouds.
Went up with Niger seed for the Twite today but it looks like they might have moved on for this year as not a sign of any. Maybe still time for one or two!
12+ Red Grouse
1 female Sparrowhawk
2 Kestrel
1 Common Buzzard

Cold Edge Road
1 Wheatear opposite the wind farm car park, feeding on large light brown hairy caterpillars.
2 Raven over Wainstalls
1 butterfly at a distance looked like a Red Admiral. Cold weather for butterflys!

Just noticed that the plumage of the bird looks so different in the different light - but it was the same bird!

See if you can beat your late Wheatear record from last year Dave.

I can't see getting anywhere near 23rd November - but it would be nice!
