Holmfield and Mixenden
I had a ride round for a short time early afternoon during the rain, checking on local rookeries - big surprise was 20 nests near Laurel Bank Close in Holmfield in 2009 - none there today! Mixenden Res'r early afternoon - c30 Swallows there but nothing else.
I have just amended the posting Jeff - Holmfield near the schools for the Rookery as I didn't make that clear. No obvious explanation but I will look into it a bit further.
I have done some random checks of some of our rookeries this year (next full one is 2014) and found that those I have done are marginally up from our 2009 survey. Surprising after such a tough winter for the birds! But I got a real shock up there this afternoon.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

Could you see any new developments up there Dave? Anything obvious that may help to explain why there are no nests?
