Bullfinch eating berries
Sorry for poor quality Steve B. Ive been trying to get shots of Bullfinch for ages but they are proving very difficult. This bird was feeding on the same berries as the Waxings, yellow rowan berries I think.
Great shot of the waxwing in the act of swallowing the berry whole. Yes, they are rowan berries. The yellow berried form is a garden variety of the native one. The top bullfinch pic shows the flesh of the berry around its beak so it proves that they were pecking through to eat the seed. Not what the tree needs!
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,
