Walshaw Dean 24th September
Visited this site with DJP in the hope that the Red Kite was still present. It was ! but unfortunatley for us on the other side of the hill to where we were standing. 3 hours then spent scanning the moors to no avail.Birds noted included Sparrowhawk, Kestrels, (Peregrine and Merlin by DJP)Golden Plover, 3 Tufted Ducks, Reed Bunting 27 Mistle Thrush, 50+ Swallows and lots of Meadow Pipits moving, 3 Twite and a rather lonely Goldcrest calling from the bracken at the top reservoir.
