More migrants

Calderdale Birds

Redstart singing at the Crags today whilst Matt and I were putting up more nestboxes (total now 30). Text info also received from JB re Sedge Warbler at Moss Bog and 5 Garden warbler and Whitethroat at Elland GP

Spoke to JB about this and he means the mossy bog down at EGP, the one between the canal and the river at the Brighouse end

There's conflicting advice on the net about redstart boxes (some say open front, some, inc BTO, say hole fronted). I've adapted three of the open fronted into hybrids, and will try get up Tuesday where we heard redstart today to get at least one up somewhere, maybe nearer the top
