12th Dec Herring Gulls

94 Herring Gulls past over Mount Tabor in 1 hour going west this PM, one of them came down and fed alongside the Med Gull. Also 5 Great Black Backs flew west. The Med gull still has 2 legs but one of them appears injured, it as difficulty standing and often flails its wings about to keep its balance. It looks like we definatly have two first winter birds, this one at Mount Tabor and another at Ogden.

A great count of Herring Gulls Nick. I wonder if they were coming over from Soil Hill (or Queensbury)direction - or Swales Moor? I have often seen the big gulls in winter come over the gap by the ski-slope whilst others come over the gap at Godley cutting at Claremount and straight over Halifax Town Centre.
