General Observations

I've noticed a lot of jays the past week or so on my commute through Shibden Park into Halifax. At one point there were 6 "singing" in one tree. Also great spotted and green woodpeckers flying around.

The tawny owls are also pretty active at the moment.

The hawthorns in the valley have a good crop of berries on them as do the rowans in Sainsbury's car park and the streets around.

I thought the house martins had left our street but there were 3 flying around this teatime.

1 chiffchaff singing at the weekend.

Another 'general observation' from me is that there seem far fewer Autumn blackcaps than normal. Underbank is usually stiff with them in Autumn, but I've yet to see one there this back end.
