Unsettling experience this afternoon. I was waiting outside The White House for the 587 bus at 15:28 back to Halifax: it blobbed. But the next 587 passed me heading for Rochdale, so I resigned myself to waiting an hour and catching it on its return at 16:35. A Pennine bus did appear around this time, but it displayed "Not in service" and sailed past, ignoring my signal. I was getting a bit cold by now (not a great idea aged 80!), and thought I'd be stuck until the next bus at 17:45. The pub was closed. But thankfully a walker I'd been chatting to offered me a lift by car into Halifax.
This has left me thinking I need to find a new patch, accessible by bus (for eco reasons), but I haven't decided where. I like the Whiteholme area because it has not a lot of birds, but what it has are good. And I'm not very sociable, so tend to go birding 'where there aren't any birds'!
