Marsh Harrier - good news as well..It's been a great summer for the Marsh Harriers in East Yorkshire, 21 fledged from Blacktoft Sands and 70 from the immediate area......Ospreys in the South Lakes have had a record breaking year as well....
9 successful nests, 3 lost to predation and 2 failing because the male couldn't provide for 2 females in the best vole year ever seems a poor reason to me. Just look at all the owls this year, at least 14 pairs of leos, 7 pairs of Barn Owls and shorties must be somewhere in the region of 30 pairs. Still 34 young Hens in the North of England is a huge improvement on recent times.
Yes its fantastic that none were lost to suspicious circumstances.....not even a hint of it....its amazing.........................every breeding attempt accounted for......hooray
Brilliant news. Well done to all those people who have put in and are still putting in a lot of hours of strenuous work on the project.
Still a long way to go but that’s a good start.
