Cracking find and shots

Fantastic shots Dave and a great find. Thanks - I managed to see it pretty well this afternoon and it looked well settled on the black mud. Though 2 quads were chasing about on the mud while I was there and one got well stuck !!!!! though they managed to drag it out and carried on. Fortunately the bird was not disturbed though the Wigeon and Teal were.
It's a scope job from the embankment if you need decent views if anyone goes up there tomorrow - I would not risk walking out on the mud - I know from past experience. You did well to get near enough for those shots Dave !!!
Also there is a lot of plant moving about during the week doing repairs to the reservoir though pedestrians are not restricted on the pathways.

I thought this might have been my 200th for Calderdale....looking back in my records - and it took some finding !!! I have seen one previously, at Lighthazzles Res'r on 28th April 1984 so I'm still on 199.
I think there are one or two local birders on 200 + ?

it is a simply brilliant picture. The grey water , the grey bird - but at the same time clearly not monochrome - truly lovely. One of the best I have seen.
