Sad news
Very sorry to have to report the death yesterday of Burnley birder Pete Grice (aka "The Guru") who finally succumbed to cancer after a long and typically very brave battle. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him will feel this loss deeply, birding and life will never be the same again. RIP mate.

My introduction to CBCG was a working party at Ringatone where we wallowed in water and mud removing willows from the edge of the res. My first meeting of the Group was a couple of weeks later when I met everyone and was I astounded by being asked by Nick C if I wanted to go to Malta to join Springwatch to assist the fight against hunting in Malta. I jumped at the chance and it was on that trip that I met Pete (The Guru). He was a great bloke and such a joy to be with. A laugh a minute and so much knowledge in one person. RIP indeed.
Very Sorry to here this Nick, I know Pete was a very good friend of yours, he will be sadley missed.
RIP Pete , spent many hour with Peter , good company , long trips made to Spurn made shorter with the laughs with him and Barry James another who left this planet far too soon ,,
