This is the blog for bird sightings and related news in the Calderdale area. It is generally updated daily. Any non-member wishing to report and post sightings should send them to info(at)calderdalebirds(dot)co(dot)uk
It is a common gull but which subspecies? There are four ssp, only two have pale irises, Kamchatka and Mew - both of these are from around the Bering Straits, North East Asia and Alaska respectively. That's assuming the apparent pale iris is gen.
can i suggest you post the pics or send them to the birding frontiers website, plenty of experts on there will be very interested and will help with an id. Interesting bird though.
Tricky! Certainly interesting and worthy of investigation- would be keen to see any such well. However to get away from odd nominate canus- would need open wing details. About 50% of heinie (Russian Common Gull have pale iris)
Without wing open I wonder if it is just an odd nominate bird- rare but they do occur
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

without checking its looks like a classic yellow legged gull.........nice one
The second picture gives a decent profile, looks more like a common gull with yellow legs, they do exist - needs more digging.
If you zoom in it also has a pale iris, Mew Gull?
My moneys on Common.
