Med Gull

Med Gull back at Ogden at 4.00PM. Adult winter plumage with a pinkish ring on left leg and bto ring on right. Sorry grapeviners but service is still down.

Again I've texted this to as many grapeviners as i recall are on there, if you are on grapevine and haven't received the text please let me know and accept my apologies. Thanks for putting that on the blog Nick (D). Nick (C) - thanks Nick - new phone purchased this morning but no service connection yet. They say it will be within 24 hrs so should be back on in the morning if not before. Will let you all know as soon as back on. Apologies for the interuption in service after yesterdays soaking at Ogden!

The Med gull flew off in the direction of Syke Lane fields where c50 B H Gulls and a few Common Gulls were feeding. We checked the fields around 4.30 but we could not relocate the bird.

This is a full adult with no black spots evident on the wing tips and the head is quite white apart from darker markings behind the eye. It looks exactly like the bird we saw here last Friday. There may have been other colour rings on the left leg below the pinkish ring. We assume the right leg was a BTO ring as it looked aluminium colour. No scope and the wind was gusting - seen down to about 60 mtrs but it was mobile and we were unable to get any shots on camera.
