Todmorden 14th October
A semi-birder friend of mine spotted a group of six Goldcrests picking insects off a house front on Wellington Road. I've told him it was probably a family group from this summer's breeding, but I wonder if that is actually the case?
Could be a local family group, but it's a winter visitor from across the North Sea as well. Their unusual behaviour points to them possibly being a migrant group. Occasionally I have come across almost hand-tame individuals in winter in garden.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,
