Mytholmroyd - sparrowhawk
Going for my bus today at 1.15 in Mytholmroyd - had just come over the bridge to wait in front of the toilets opposite the Dusty Miller. In front of me with a bemused look on its face was a beautiful male sparrowhawk (must have been a male as it was so small and delicate) just sitting on the pavement. I think maybe it had tried to catch one of the numerous pigeons that are always pecking about there (but not today!) In any case it must have been only half the weight of a pigeon. We looked at each other for a few seconds then it wheeled round and flew over the road behind the pub. Lovely moment.
