Shore Lark - anybody checked?
Just been taking records off the Blog for 2007 to pass onto Nick for the report and got to thinking whether anyone has checked to see if the Shorelark has returned to Swalesmoor, I know its a (very) long shot but stranger things have happened.
The first ever Cape May warbler in Britain was in Paisley Green(near Glasgow)The ornithologist who first discovered the species(in america) Alexander Wilson, was born and spent his youth in Paisley,in fact his birth place could be seen from the site it was first seen.?how strange is that.
The Belted Kingfisher flew across the atlantic to Staffordshire 2 years ago in the next 48 hours following its discovery it visited East Yorkshire briefly before settling for Aberdeen, the birder who identified it(found by a none birder) in Staffordshire was the son of the guy who found it in Aberdeen!!! This bird left many birders in it's wake, myself included and yet managed to visit 2 members of the same family who were some 300/400 miles apart.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,
