the chilling soil hill

quick walk round this evening to result in very little results. 2 meadow pipits were hopping along the ground (my dad thought they were twite). also saw 5/6 partridges flushed from near the scrapes. the only problem with having a site that ahs both kinds of partidge is when you see siluets then you cant be sure whether is grey or RL. judging by the location please could somebody help.

I'm not really all that familiar with Soil Hill but would guess either might be possible? You need some input from the Soil Hill regulars Nigel K and Brian.

The partridges you saw are the resident Grey Partridge which are always about up there, there has been odd sightings of 3 then one R L Partridge earlier in the year but these are uncommon on the hill, unfortunately they are bred for shooting at Thornton Moor and one or two seem to get dispersed after a shoot. Watch for Woodcock up there as Nigel flushed one the other day.
