A woodcock was roding up and down, then a second flew up to join it. Couldn't decide if the second one was challenging it, or display with it. Let's hope he knew.
Earlier, chiffchaff still calling, plus GSwoodpecker, and on Saturday two noctule bats (wingspan = 13 to 16 inches!!)were feeding close to the house.

strangely Matt I noticed a large bat up near my fathers house the other night will attempt to spot it again but does anyone in the group own a bat detector?
Colin Duke from Calderdale Wildlife network has one I think, and I'm trying to borrow it (or him). If it's large bat that flies high and whilst it's still light-ish it's almost certain to be a noctule.
let me know if you can sort it maybe we can survey both places in the same night?
