Off road bikers
Anyone coming across off road bikers damaging habitat is requested to report this to the police on their non emergency incident report number 08456060606, when doing so please ensure the incident is logged and you receive an incident reference number. PC Roman Soltan has also requested that you ask for the matter to be flagged up for his attention. The more incidents that are officially logged the more likely the police are to take action. Please take as much detail as possible of the bikes, people involved etc. An incident on the moors at Blackstone Edge today has prompted this posting.

Just looking for some clarification about paths designated as Bridleways.
My understanding (I may be wrong) is bridleways can be used by horses and bicycles but not motorised vehicles. Is this correct? Some people I've spoken too are unclear and assume the bikers may be within their rights.
Can't answer that one myself Iain but hopefully I know a man that can! I'll pass your question onto Steve Downing.
Bridleways provide a right of way on horseback, foot and bicycle. The Countryside Act 1968 gave cyclists the right to use bridleways but they must give way to other users. The right for cyclists to use a bridleway can be subject to an order or bye-law prohibiting cycling on particular parts of it.
Told you Steve would know!
