Walshaw, Gorple & Widdop

lots of birds returning to the area lately

Crossbill 6 (m 4f & 1st summer male)

Goldfinch 7
Mistle Thrush 4
Great Spotted Woodpecker
plus the usual Tits and Chaffinchs
Canada Goose 8
Mallard 15
Tufted Duck 2m 2f
Curlew 36 inc flock of 33 that flew in
Oystercatcher 10
Lapwing 3

GORPLE

Curlew 14
Lapwing 104 - these seem to be a migrating flock not the local breeders

also plenty of Lapwing in the breeding fields and odd pairs of Curlew throughout

Thats a good days birding with an impressive list and so close to your 13th birthday too! Looks like Curlew and Oyks are well and truly back now
