Bradley Hall Farm and Jay House Lane

Kestrel at Bradley Hall this morning

Bradley Hall Farm
2 Yellowhammers this morning but elusive and only a brief song heard from one male.
2 Grey Wagtails
3 Sparrowhawks

Jay House Lane
max of 5 Tree Sparrows feeding on the fat balls, 1 or more were seen heading off into the distance over the fields so they must have other foraging areas nearby.
2 House Sparrows
The feeders were empty as we hear the Carrion Crows have developed a strategy for emptying them!

Good to meet up with Tony, Steve, David and John as well at Jay House Lane

I suggested to Caroline Inman that the feeders could be enclosed within mesh containers for 1. protection of the sparrows from the hawks and 2. reduce the competition for the food. But my idea was not heeded.

I suppose there is no limit to measures that could be taken, and it could get unnatural. The feeders must make them more vulnerable to hawks, though.
